A municipality in the northwestern part of Tenerife it is located about 90 km SSW of the island's capital, NW of Los Cristianos and Las Américas of Arona and about 60 km NW of the international airport.
The population stands at 3,198 and its population density is at 135.28/km². Total land area is at 23.64 km² and elevation is at 480 m. Linked north of the superhighway it is also near the highway linking Adeje and Icod de los Vinos.
Farmlands are in the valley areas and within the Atlantic. Mountains and hills surround El Tanque and agriculture is driving its economy.
