Having a population of 32,588 Los Realejos is under the shade of the great slopes of the Las Cañadas del Teide mountain range.
During the last few years this town has grown in importance and population with an economy driven by agriculture as evidenced by its banana plantations. In recent years it became a tourist extension of Puerto de la Cruz.
Here one finds hotels and first-class residential quarters as well as tourist attractions like the La Concepcion Church where one finds a baroque altar and a jasper sculptured Baptismal font.
In Los Realejos one also finds the Santiago Parish that was constructed in 1498 and considered the oldest island church.
On its coast lies a beautiful black-sand beach - El Socorro - as well as beautiful landscapes surrounding the whole city, such as the aforementioned Rambla de Castro (Castro's Avenue).
