Tegueste

It is a municipality on the northern part of the island of Tenerife surrounded by the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and is the only town surrounded by another municipality on land in the Canary Islands.

It is also a suburban area of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife area and had acquired independence from San Cristóbal de La Laguna in the 17th century.

The town’s economy is mostly agriculture and business based with tourism less common on its coastline and two large cities on Tenerife. The urban area dominates the central parts, the mountains, grasslands and some farmlands cover the rest of the town.
