Los Cristianos is a typical Spanish town, rich in cultural tradition and history. Each year, festivals and holidays draw thousands of visitors who wish to experience the lively vibrance and color first-hand.
The most important festival is the Carnaval. This is a yearly event that takes place in the last week of February. It is a week-long affair of non-stop merrymaking and partying. People go out on the streets dressed in costumes ranging from sleek and casual to daring and just plain outrageous. Though the main carnival takes place in the capital of Tenerife , Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Los Cristianos always ends up with huge crowds of visitors. Throughout Carnaval week, there are various forms of entertainment, all sure to delight people of all ages.
After the merrymaking of the Carnaval, the tone quickly turns somber as the Lenten season begins. The Holy Week takes place towards the end of the season, culminating in Easter Sunday. All throughout Lent, various solemn religious activities take place.
